Route 5

Scenario 1

• No changes are recommended for Route 5 in Scenario 1.

Scenario 2

• Currently, service on Route 5 operates between Durham Station to MLK Jr. Boulevard operates every 15 minutes. Service South of MLK Jr. Boulevard operates at a frequency of 30 minutes.
• In Scenario 2, Route 5 would be improved to provide 15-minute all day service between Durham Station and Southpoint.  All trips would continue to Southpoint – there would no longer be a Route 5K. 
• Route 5 would not enter into either the Renaissance Center or the Streets at Southpoint property.  Instead, stops would be directly on Fayetteville Road and the route would turn around on Kentington Drive, Rolando Drive, and Renaissance Parkway.  Existing Route 5 patrons to the Streets at Southpoint would need to walk up to a half mile to access service.
• Route 5 would not operate on NC 751, NC 54, or Renaissance Parkway west of Rolando Drive.  Route 14 would continue to serve NC 751, NC 54, and Renaissance Parkway.
