Route 9

Scenario 1

• Route 9 currently operates with three variants (Route 9, Route 9A, and Route 9B), which is complicated and hard for passengers to understand.  In Scenario 1, Route 9 would operate as a single alignment that would not change weekdays, evenings, or Sundays. 
• Route 9 would serve the commercial and residential developments east of Roxboro Road, including Meriwether Drive, East Carver Street, Ben Franklin Boulevard, Danube Drive, Hebron Road, Denfield Street, and Horton Road.  The route would then continue to Northern High School for all trips using the existing alignment of Route 9B.  Connections to a restructured Route 4 and continuing service to Hillandale Road would be made on Horton Road between N Roxboro and North Duke Streets.
• Route 9 would no longer directly serve Duke Regional Hospital or the area west of Roxboro Street.  A restructured Route 4 will serve these areas, with the Hospital being served by a stop on N Roxboro Street.  Route 9 would no longer serve Glennbrook Drive, Da Vinci Street, and Waring Street,causing roughly 50 current customers to have up to a ¾ mile walk to service. 
• Existing Route 9A and 9B patrons on Horton Road and points north would have 60 minute evening and Sunday service, which is an improvement over today’s service.  

Scenario 2

• Route 9 currently operates with three variants (Route 9, Route 9A, and Route 9B), which is complicated and difficult for potential customers to understand. In Scenario 2, Route 9 would operate as a single alignment that would not change weekdays, evenings, or Sundays. 
• In Scenario 2, Route 9 would be truncated and only travel as far north as Carver Street. The route would turn around using North Roxboro Street, East Carver Street, Meriwether Drive, and Old Oxford Road.
• Service to North Duke Crossing, Northern High School, and Hillandale Road would continue to be available through Route 4 and Route 16.
