Call for Artists: McNeel E-Bike Locker Public Art Project
The Urban Design Center is excited to announce an opportunity for local artists to collaborate with the McNeel Apartments community on a new placemaking project along one of Charlotte’s Corridors of Opportunity. The City of Charlotte is seeking qualifications from artists to design a cohesive public art vinyl wrap for a set of outdoor E-Bike lockers.
As part of the Corridors of Opportunity program, the City of Charlotte, in partnership with Dream Key Partners, is supporting affordable housing development at the McNeel Apartments. Accompanying this development will be a shared community space featuring secure E-Bike lockers that will double as a highly visible public art installation. Located at 1214 Kohler Avenue, the lockers will be transformed through artist-designed vinyl wraps that reflect themes of mobility, equitable access, and community identity.
