P8.0 Project Prioritization Survey
P8.0 Project Prioritization Survey
The French Broad River MPO is asking for public input on transportation projects being considered in this round of prioritization.
Prioritization is the process North Carolina uses to help decide which transportation projects should move forward toward funding. Projects are scored and ranked based on factors like safety, congestion, local priority, and community input. Because there is not enough funding to build every project, prioritization helps determine which projects rise to the top.
This survey asks you to share your level of support for each project. Your feedback will help us identify which projects are strongly supported, which raise concerns, and which fall somewhere in between. Public input will be used as one part of the MPO’s local prioritization process and will help provide context as projects are evaluated for potential future funding.
This survey is not a vote, but it is an important opportunity to help local decision-makers understand community priorities before projects advance further in the funding process.
Step 1
Roadway Projects
Modernization
Upgrade an existing road to current standards (e.g., shoulders, alignment, lane widths, safety improvements, complete streets) and may include capacity improvements at intersections.
Widening
Add lanes to increase vehicle capacity and reduce congestion
Roadway Upgrade
Improve an existing road without adding lanes (e.g., pavement, drainage, safety features, complete streets) and may include capacity improvements at intersections.
Upgrade Freeway to Interstate Standards
Upgrade an existing freeway to interstate standards (design, safety, connectivity)
Road Diet
Reconfigure lanes to improve safety (e.g., fewer travel lanes, added turn lanes, bike lanes)
Intersection & Access Projects
Intersection Improvement
Improve a single intersection (e.g., signals, turn lanes, safety upgrades, roundabout)
Multiple Intersection Improvements
Improve several intersections along a corridor
Interchange Improvement
Improve highway interchanges (ramps, merging, traffic flow)
Access Management
Reduce conflict points (e.g., fewer driveways, added medians, better turning access)
Walking & Biking Projects
Sidewalk
Add pedestrian sidewalks and crossing treatments where needed
Multi-Use Path
Paved path for walking and biking, typically separated from the road
