Project Progress
Crews performing end-of-line trackwork construction and quality control are back on site after being delayed due to COVID-19 precautions. The city and the contractor are currently discussing the best ways to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 while also ensuring a safe work environment.
As a precautionary measure, the contractor continues to clear worksites of loose construction materials and debris in the event that more protests occur.
The contractor continues median, planting strip and other related roadway work in the Uptown area.
Construction on the Hawthorne Lane bridge continues. Concrete approach slabs and bridge sides on the deck have been poured. More concrete work, including the bridge sides along the approach slabs, as well as medians and sidewalks, will take place through July.
COVID-19, protests and weather conditions affected the project. The most notable impact was on the bridge schedule; therefore, the project team is evaluating ways to safely open the bridge in early August to pedestrian traffic only.
