This ~2 mile greenway trail project is intended to expand the existing 6.5 mile McAlpine/McMullen/Four Mile system and end north of Pineville-Matthews Road at Green Rea Road and Country Day Middle School.  The trail will provide a large number of residential areas to the north of Hwy 51 direct access to the greenway trail that links directly to office, hotel, and retail shopping areas and nearby elementary schools as well as a middle school.  Several multi-family and single family developments are among those that will be linked to the greenway system which will total 8+ miles when this greenway section is constructed.  The project also includes a new parking lot at Highway 51/Pineville-Matthews Road.

This project is being built in partnership with the NCDOT. Due to NCDOT budget impacts, the project does not yet have a projected schedule for construction.
