Thank you for taking the time to review and vote for your choice to be the Official Grand Rapids 175th Anniversary Commemorative Poster! Our Art Advisory Council reviewed all the submissions and graded them based on the rubric. After aggregating the results, we're excited to present the Finalists below.

Voting closes Friday, September 5th with the winner to be announced at the Art Prize opening ceremony on September 19th. Both finalists will be displayed at City Hall during Art Prize, so stop by to see them up close!

Submission #1 - Blueprint | Steve Wammack

Artist's Statement - What I love about Grand Rapids are its people and its rich history, as exemplified by its architecture (both old and new). I created line drawings of city buildings that are representative of its civic and cultural institutions (museums, churches, restaurants, sports venues, etc.)—the places where residents work and live. The strips of color are intended to suggest celebratory confetti, and the blueprint motif communicates the idea that Grand Rapids is continuing to plan and grow.

Submission #2 - Primary Grand Rapids | Sarah Aldrich

Artist's Statement - I combined two art styles to have some fun with this poster. The framing is a simple vector format, but as an artist I love adding lots of detail to pieces so I explored three elements of what Grand Rapids means to me. Art, Adventure and Family. I moved back to the area to be close to family. I love the art scene that Grand rapids offers, and I love exploring trails and unique nature experiences around the area. The color pallet stays true to the GR 175th logo and branding materials.
