Project Summary
The Building a Better Tomorrow: Greenville's Path to Housing Affordability project activities include the construction of three new affordable housing developments near Unity Park in downtown Greenville: Villas at Southernside, Townhomes at Trescott, and Southernside West, a senior-restricted affordable housing development.
The grant will also support invaluable renovations to existing affordable housing properties in the City: Century Plaza, Parkins Ridge and Reedy Place, a Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) property, in Greenville. Additionally, the grant will also support the establishment of the Greenville Community Home Trust (GCHT), which will provide single-family homeownership opportunities and down payment assistance. Portions of the grant funds will allow for the hiring of a research consultant to update the data set of the Communitywide Strategic Plan published in 2020, providing clear information on where Greenville's status in its housing affordability mission and identifying opportunities for growth.
Finally, this grant will support several educational events and annual roundtables for community members, elected officials and developers to learn more about Greenville’s affordable housing tools, incentives and benefits.
