It is time for the City of Stone Mountain to update its 2021 Comprehensive Plan to determine where the community is, where it wants to be, and how to get there. Through this process, we will look at the need for updates to:

One of the fundamental responsibilities of local government is planning – a word used to describe how a community shapes and guides growth and development. Local governments are required to update their comprehensive plans every five years by undergoing extensive data collection and community engagement.
Updating the comprehensive plan offers communities the opportunity to look beyond the execution of day-to-day services and consider where they want to be in the next five years - as well as what has to be done to get there.

The Steering Committee acts as a stakeholder advisory panel that provides input throughout a planning process. For comprehensive planning purposes, this committee is typically comprised of representatives from local authorities, the business community, key non-profit agencies, and citizen groups. Committee members are expected to provide feedback and advise the planning team throughout the comprehensive plan update.
