Blue Ridge Road Improvement Project
Blue Ridge Road Improvement Project
The purpose of the Blue Ridge Road Improvement Project is to provide a safe multi-modal corridor for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians from Duraleigh Road to Crabtree Valley Avenue.
The City proposes to widen a segment of the road to three lanes with:
-
Curb and gutter;
-
Sidewalks; and,
-
A multi-use path.
The Blue Ridge Road Project was presented to the public in July 2018. After reviewing the public comments from the public meeting, consulting with the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Council (BPAC), and the City Council, we have proposed a new design for the corridor.
The new design removes the five-foot bicycle lanes from the roadway. Creates a Multi-Use Path (MUP) on one side of the roadway and widens the sidewalk on the other side of the road.
We will present the new plans at the second public meeting scheduled for May 20.
