Defining the desired future state for each goal area gives us clarity to set measurable goals, select metrics for tracking progress, and to prioritize our actions under that goal area. Below are the draft future statements based on the content from OGD stakeholder group meetings thus far. Please feel free to provide input and feedback on these draft future statements. They will all be part of the implementation plan we are developing together. 

The future states for goals 1, 2, 3, and 4 have been edited to reflect feedback from the October 10, 2019 stakeholder meeting. They are each labeled as "Version 2". 

This is the first version of the future states for goals 5, 6, and 7. They are each labeled as "Version 1".

Question title

Goal 1: Reduce priority toxics and other pollutants discharging to receiving waters.

Future Statement Version 2 (10/10/19): The discharge of toxics and other pollutants will be reduced to the degree that allows existing and future communities to enjoy safe opportunities for fishing, swimming, boating, and other recreation in the watershed.

Goal 2: Foster partnerships, broad participation and collaboration among watershed stakeholders and communities.

Future Statement Version 2 (10/10/19): Our Green Duwamish will be the primary source of information relating to stormwater management activities in the watershed, and there will be consensus about the highest priority actions to improve the watershed, through adaptive, integrated watershed management.

Goal 3: Increase access to existing data, research and resources.

Future Statement Version 2 (10/10/19): Our Green Duwamish will provide an accessible and reliable hub for data and research to promote consistent and effective implementation of stormwater management with better informed decisions, outreach tools, and progress tracking systems.

Goal 4: Restore natural hydrologic functions through reduction in uncontrolled stormwater runoff flows.

Future Statement Version 2 (10/10/19): The watershed will have a collaborative and adaptive approach to implementing a prioritized list of actions that restore natural hydrologic functions in ways that benefit the community, fish, and the environment.

Goal 5: Increase innovation in stormwater runoff management.

Future Statement Version 1 (10/10/19): We will have a culture of innovation that is data driven and promotes creative and dynamic solutions to proactive stormwater management practices.

Future Statement Version 1 (10/10/19): There is a systemic, proactive, and informed approach to stormwater management across institutions with a public that understands, advocates for, and pitches in for stormwater management.

Future Statement Version 1 (10/10/19): The Our Green Duwamish collaborative is a sustainable, accountable team of organizations that leverage their best qualities to provide trusted recommendations to decision makers for enduring stormwater management strategies in the watershed.
