The Asheville Downtown Commission was created by City Council for the sustainability and continued development of downtown, a vital urban center of western North Carolina’s economic, cultural and visitor activity.

In addition to providing City Council with recommendations on Downtown policies and initiatives, the Downtown Commission carries out Downtown Design Review on major development projects within the Central Business District.

Regular Scheduled Meetings

The Downtown Commission is meeting virtually on the second Friday of each month at 9:00 a.m. The typical length of the meeting is 2 hours.

Committee Meetings

The following committees are part of the work of the Asheville Downtown Committee - Downtown Design Review, Local Living Economic Working Group, Parking & Transportation, and Downtown Public Space Management.

Information on the Asheville Downtown Commission and its working committees can be found on the Asheville Downtown Commission webpage.
