120-Day Road Closure for Burke Street Gravity Main Replacement
120-Day Road Closure for Burke Street Gravity Main Replacement
The purpose of this public engagement opportunity is to allow members of the public to review the requested road closure information and provide feedback during the two-week public comment period (September 20 to October 3, 2021). Additionally, the date of the BOCC Regular Meeting when the closure request is to be considered and the process for public participation at a Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) Regular Meeting is available for those who wish to speak before the BOCC on this matter.
A temporary 120-day road closure for sections of Burke Street is necessary to perform work for the Burke Street Gravity Main Replacement Project. The sewer system in this area has severe cracks and damage that cannot be repaired. Due to the depth of the pipe, closing road segments for extensive excavation is needed to safely replace these lines.
In accordance with BOCC Policy 09.01.01.01, which requires a public meeting for road closures of more than thirty (30) consecutive days, the purpose of this virtual public engagement is to provide the following information and allow for a two-week public comment period:
Overview of the requested road closure, including the road closure timeline and proposed detour(s)
Date of the BOCC meeting when the closure request is to be considered
Process for citizen participation at the BOCC Regular Meeting, including County contact information for staff and Commissioners, as well as the process to have graphics and video cleared for presentation to the BOCC.
In addition to noticing this virtual public engagement opportunity as required by Board Policy 09.03.06.00, residents within the construction zone on Burke Street will be contacted individually to discuss property access needs and accommodations before the work begins early next year.
