City of Lima, Cable Road Safety Improvements, PID 112573
The city of Lima, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), is holding a Public Meeting for a planned roadway construction project along ½ mile of Cable Road from Latham Avenue to College Park West in Allen County, Ohio.
- An In-Person meeting will be held on March 21 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the University of Northwestern Ohio.
- The public meeting will also be held via a virtual open house, through the Project Website, from March 21 through April 21, 2024.
The City of Lima is planning the following improvements for the existing 5-lane roadway:
Install a median from Latham Avenue to Windsor Drive. Access to Cable Road from business drives along this section would be right-turn only; no left-turn movements across lanes of traffic would be accessible. In addition, U-turns would be designed and permitted at each end of the median to access the opposite side of the roadway.
Convert the 5-lane roadway to 3 lanes, from Windsor Drive to College Park West. The proposed roadway would provide one lane in each direction with a center two-way left turn lane.
Install sidewalks along the west side of the roadway from the entrance of Clock Tower Plaza (where the existing sidewalk ends) to College Park West. Sidewalks would also be installed along the east side of the roadway from Latham Avenue to College Park West.
Upgrade the three (3) traffic signals at Latham Avenue, Windsor Drive, and College Park West.
Reconstruct driveways along the corridor to tie in with the roadway and pedestrian improvements.
Install new catch basins and storm sewer repairs.
Replace the sanitary sewer force main from Latham Avenue to the pump station near an existing stream.
Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and be completed by June 2027.
Why are we hosting an in-person public meeting and virtual open house?
To ensure the proposed project is viable and successful, we are asking all those interested to attend and participate in this public meeting. The purpose of the public meeting is to discuss the project and proposed improvements with the community, answer questions, and gather community input before making final decisions.
