Hancock Golf Course Survey
Hancock Golf Course Survey
Founded in 1899 by Lewis Hancock, former mayor of Austin, the Hancock Golf Course stands today as one of the oldest golf courses in Texas. However, financial challenges at Hancock Golf Course have created a need for the Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) to reexamine the sustainability of the golf course as it is today. In 2019, the National Golf Foundation studied all City of Austin golf courses, providing recommendations. Recommendations for Hancock called for a course that is better aligned with with today's preferences to become fiscally sustainable.
PARD is considering issuing a recommendation to enter into an agreement with a private entity to create a modern golf learning center. This process begins with a request for proposals (RFP) for a Concessionary Agreement that would allow golf to remain at Hancock and allow for greater fiscal responsibility of City funds.
Your feedback will help shape the RFP and acknowledge values and concerns in the process. For more information visit https://www.austintexas.gov/department/hancock-golf-course-planning.
