Flying the Friendly Skies?
Travel Picks Up Speed, Pack Your Patience
You’ve heard it on the news – travel has really picked up since the early days of the pandemic. That has many CLT businesses between a rock and a hard place as they address staffing shortages while trying to hire for many open positions with the TSA, concessions, airlines and other Airport businesses.
At the same time business travel has decreased, leisure travel has skyrocketed. For many people, this is the first time they have traveled. For others, it is the first time in a long time that they have traveled. Much is the same when it comes to travel preparedness and the Airport journey, but much has changed in the last year.
As our airline partners return to pre-pandemic flight schedules and passenger loads, our tenants and partners are quickly trying to hire employees to match the increased demand as more travelers fly through CLT post-COVID.
American Airlines has acknowledged CLT as one of its key airports for growth and recovery from the global pandemic. Some of the restaurants, stores and other services are operating on limited schedules due to reduced staffing levels. We ask passengers who are beginning their trip at CLT to arrive at the TSA checkpoint three hours prior to their flight. Passengers can check real-time wait times and the status of their flights at cltairport.com.
