July 4 Travel Nears Pre-Pandemic Numbers

This Fourth of July weekend Charlotte Douglas International Airport is expecting passenger numbers close to pre-pandemic levels.

The biggest crowds are expected today, Friday and Monday with between 27,000 and 28,000 passengers who will begin their travels at CLT and more than 100,000 people flying into Charlotte to connect to a flight headed for another destination.

The Airport’s overall numbers are bouncing back quicker than anticipated. CLT’s May activity report shows CLT is at 93 percent of 2019 prep-pandemic passenger numbers. Charlotte Douglas also averaged 728 daily departures in May compared to 762 in May 2019.

Plan Ahead

Arrive at the terminal at least three hours before your scheduled departure.

Book Parking Online

Reserve parking online for the best
rates, which will always be cheaper than the drive-up rate.

Visit cltairport.com/parking or use CLT’s app. It’s free in the Apple Store or from Google Play. Same-day booking is limited for all products and must be made a minimum of six hours in advance.

Note: Drive-up parking rates increase July 6. Book online to save.

Check Real-Time Wait Times

Check wait times at the security checkpoints before you leave home and when you get here.

Use our website or the CLT Airport app to see estimated real-time security wait times at each checkpoint, including Standard and TSA PreCheck® lines.

Remember you can use any security checkpoint in the terminal. You don’t have to go through the checkpoint that matches your flight's concourse.

Wear a Mask

It's still required inside any Airport building and on shuttle buses as well as aboard your flight. If you forget yours, ask for one at the TSA checkpoint podiums or at the Visitor Info Center in Baggage Claim. More information about CLT’s response to COVID is on our website.
