September 29-30: Alliance for Lifetime Sponsorship Activation at the Stones Concert

This is a non-profit educational institution whose purpose is to educate consumers about planning for retirement.  They are the sponsor for the 2021 Rolling Stones Tour.  

The following streets will close at 9:00 a.m. on September 29 and reopen at 11:59 p.m. on September 30:

Mint Street from Morehead Street to Graham Street
Graham Street from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Mint Street
Stonewall Street from Church Street to Mint Steet
 

 

October 3: Craft Beer Half Marathon and 5 Miler

The event begins 8:00 a.m. The organizer expect 950 participants.

The Half Marathon begins at David Taylor Corporate Center and includes Governor Hunt Road, Mallard Creek Road, Dirwood Circle, Prosperity Church Road, Fairlea Drive, Clarks Creek Greenway, Mallard Creek Greenway, Toby Creek Greenway, David Taylor Drive, Governor Hunt Road, ending on David Taylor Corporate Center. 

The 5 Miler begins at David Taylor Corporate Center and includes Governor Hunt Road, Mallard Creek Road, Covard Park Way, Clarks Creek Greenway, Mallard Creek Greenway, David Taylor Drive, Governor Hunt Road ending at David Taylor Corporate Center.

October 7-9: Circle K Speed Street

Circle K Speed Street will celebrate 26 years in Center City.  The event entertains visitors and locals in support of NASCAR racing.  Fans can enjoy free activities, samples, celebrity appearances, and live musical entertainment.

 

Festival hours are 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Activities are centered around Romare Bearden Park.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Church Street and Mint Street will close at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5.

Mint Street between 4th Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, 3rd Street between Mint Street and Poplar Street, and parking areas along the park on 3rd Street and Church Street will close at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6.

All streets will reopen on Sunday, October 10, at 12:00 p.m.

 

October 9: Hola Charlotte

The entire community is invited to celebrate and experience Latin culture during Hispanic Heritage Month.  30,000 participants are expected.

Festival hours are 12:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The following streets will close at 7:00 p.m. on 10/8/21 and reopen at 11:50 p.m. on 10/9/21:

Levine Ave. from Tryon Street to Church Street

The event begins Saturday October 9th, at 8:30 a.m. The organizers expect 700 participants. October 23: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

The event begins at 7:00 a.m. The organizers expect 4000 participants. The 3 Mile Route will begin on Morrison Boulevard and proceed on Barclay Downs Drive, Ferncliff Road, Ayscough Road, Wickersham Road, Merrifield Road, Clarendon Road, Colony Road, Roxborough Road, Rexford Road, and end at the Coca Cola Plaza. The 1-mile route leaves Symphony Park and crosses Morrison Boulevard onto the Coca Cola Plaza, Rexford Road, Morrison Boulevard and ending at Symphony Park. October 23: Jace's Journey 5K

The event is scheduled for October 23rd, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. The organizers expect 150 participants. The route begins on private property and proceeds on Governor Hunt Road, onto the greenways, and comes back to Governor Hunt Road before ending on private property.

October 23: Chili for Charity

The event will be a chili cookoff of Plaza Midwood restaurants and amateur chefs with all proceeds supporting the SUDC Foundation.  There are 2,000 expected participants.

Festival hours are 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Commonwealth Ave. from Gordon Street to Thomas Street and Thomas Street from Commonwealth Ave. to the public parking lot just off Central Ave. will close at 10:30 a.m. and reopen at 7:00 p.m.

 

October 30-31: Kings Drive Art Walk

35,000 participants are expected.

Festival hours on both days are 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pearl Park Way Bridge will close at 5:00 a.m. on 10/30 and reopen at 8:30 p.m. on 10/31.
 

October 30: Big South 5K

Big South 5K will begin at 8:00 a.m. on October 30th, 2021. The organizers expect 500 participants. The route begins on Blakeney Heath Road and continues on the greenway to Fieldcroft Drive, Autumn Applause Drive, Blakeney Drive, Blakeney Heath Road, Parks Farm Lane, Rea Road, finishing in the shopping center parking lot. November 13: Novant Health Half and Fulll Marathon

The Novant Health Marathon and Half Marathon will begin On South Graham Street at 7:30 a.m. on November 13th, 2021. The event organizers expect 6000 participants. After beginning Uptown, the route sends participants through Eastover, Myers Park, Dilworth,  South End, Wilmore, Greenway, Noda, Plaza Midwood, and back to the finish in Uptown.
