Curbside holiday tree collection on your regular collection day starts Jan. 2
Menlo Park residents may place their holiday trees next to their green compost cart Jan. 2–31, on their regular collection day. Please remember to keep trees out of bike lanes and out of the storm gutter. Holiday tree composting guidelines: 1) Trees should be clean of all decorations, such as lights, tinsel, tree stands and nails, 2) Tree stand must be removed, 3) Trees may be up to 8 feet in length, 4) Larger trees (beyond 8 feet) should be cut into pieces and placed next to or inside the green compost cart, 5) Flocked trees will be accepted...Click to continue

New Year’s celebration reminder: Celebrate safely, no discharging firearms or fireworks
The Police Department reminds the community that discharging a firearm and/or using or possessing fireworks within Menlo Park are illegal and these serious crimes can cause severe injury or death to another person. There will be no tolerance for celebratory gunfire or fireworks. The reckless discharge of a firearm is a felony under Section 246.3 of the California Penal Code and the use and/or possession of fireworks is a misdemeanor under Section 12671 of the California Health and Safety Code. Overnight parking enforcement resumes Jan. 3
Overnight parking enforcement will resume at 2 a.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. At that time, enforcement of the overnight parking ordinance will continue by police parking officers. Overnight parking permits can be purchased in person or online. All parked vehicles without a parking permit will receive a courtesy warning. The purpose of the courtesy notice is to inform those who are unaware of the overnight parking ordinance. City Council to consider $5.2 million contract for renewable electric infrastructure
In January 2021, the City Council approved a number of sustainable project enhancements as part of Meta’s (formerly Facebook) generous offer to build a new community center in the Belle Haven neighborhood known as the Menlo Park Community Campus. The city agreed to use its own funds for additional sustainable project enhancements to demonstrate leadership on the city’s 2030 Climate Action Plan. Menlo Park joins national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign
Menlo Park Police remind the public about the importance of being safe and sober when you are driving. While the COVID-19 pandemic is changing how we celebrate the holidays, the police department is dedicated to keeping the public safe and urges people to stay at home or use a designated sober driver if you plan to drink.
