The event begins on Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 a.m. on Johnston Road. Event organizers expect 2,000 attendees. The route uses Johnston Road, Pineville-Matthews Road, McMullen Creek Greenway, Carmel Road, Vista Grande Circle, 5 Cedars Road, McAlpine Creek Greenway, Elm Lane, Creek Bend Drive, Ridgemore Drive, Hickory Forest Drive, Endhaven Lane and North Community House Road. February 22: Charlotte Hot Chocolate 15K & 5K
The event begins on Saturday, February 22 at 8 a.m. on East Seventh Street. The route uses East Seventh Street, Monroe Road, North Wendover Road, Beal Street, McAlway Road, Craig Avenue, Delane Avenue, Windemere Lane, North Sharon Amity Road, Colwick Road, Greenwich Road, Randolph Road, North Laurel Avenue, East Fifth Street, Park Drive and Armory Drive. February 26: Education Day
Motorists are advised to be prepared for heavy traffic on Wednesday, February 26, Education Day! Approximately 120 school buses will be transporting 4,000 young students and parking around the uptown area for Education Day activities. Children will be walking from and to buses and various venues, and traffic will be very heavy.
Motorists are advised of the following:
- There are no planned street closures, but sporadic closures of 5th Street near the Spectrum Center may occur after key games end.
- When pedestrian traffic is high, motorist turns onto side streets from College Street and Tryon Street may be prohibited, specifically on College Street and Tryon Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 6th Street.
- On Friday and Saturday, motorist turns from College Street and Tryon Street between Stonewall Street and 9th Street may be prohibited.
- Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.
- On-street parking will be limited on portions of Trade Street, Church Street, Tryon Street, College Street, 5th Street, and 6th Street.
- Motorists wishing to park are encouraged to access lots by using the side street where the lot or deck is located.
Motorists and pedestrians are cautioned to be alert at all times. Pedestrians will be crossing streets and walking to the Spectrum Center from parking lots, garages and the Charlotte Convention Center. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers will be on duty at every main pedestrian intersection in this area during the event.
Pedestrians walking near work zones should be alert, cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available and abide by detour signage.
Motorists traveling through work zones should be alert, extra cautious and allow extra traveling time. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distance.

February 25-February 29: CIAA Tournament
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) basketball tournament is February 25 – February 29, 2020. Games on February 25 and 26 will be at Bojangles' Coliseum, followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship finals being held at Spectrum Center from February 27 - 29. Events will be held throughout the tournament at the Charlotte Convention Center. Visit CIAA Tournament for more information. Heavy Uptown pedestrian and motorist traffic is expected.

March 7: BB&T Corporate Cup 5K and Half-Marathon
The event begins on Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 a.m. on South Tryon Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Levine Avenue of the Arts and will end by 11 a.m. Event organizers expect 2,500 participants. The half-marathon route uses Camden Road, West Boulevard, Tryon Street, Park Avenue, Mint Street, West Third Street, Providence Road, Queens Road, Sharon Road, Runnymeade Lane, Colony Road, Roswell Avenue, Queens Road West, Kings Drive and Morehead Street. March 14: Charlotte Goes Green Festival
This is the annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival.
Tryon Street from Stonewall Street to 3rd Street, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from Church Street to College Street and Levine Avenue from Tryon Street to Church Street will close at 5:00 a.m. March 14 and reopen that evening at 8:00 p.m.
The event hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The estimated attendance for the event is 9,000.

Uptown Sidewalk Riding Restrictions
Sidewalk riding is allowed except in the area of Uptown bound by Church St., Stonewall St., College St. and 7th St. This restriction is for bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters. When riding on sidewalks, be visible, courteous and yield to pedestrians at all times.
