Labor Day Reminders

All Town facilities and offices will be closed on Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day. Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all routes during the week of September 5th – 9th (Friday's route will be collected Saturday). Yard Waste collection will run Tuesday - Friday, with as many homes as possible being collected during those four days. We appreciate your patience as crews work on this condensed schedule.

Remember! You can receive push notifications when collection schedules change due to holidays or inclement weather via the 'Apex Collects' mobile or web app!

October 15th - November 3rd | Every night 6:00 - 9:00 pm

After the success of our Holiday Tour of Lights comes a new Tour of Frights! This is a chance for homes and businesses to break out their best Halloween or harvest outdoor decorations, and register to be included on our Tour of Frights map.

How it works: Residents and businesses can sign up to join the Tour by September 30th. We’ll create the Tour of Frights map to share with our community beginning Saturday, October 15th.

Welcoming Week is September 9 - 18

Through Welcoming Week, organizations and communities bring together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places.

During our first ever welcoming week observance, we’re excited to feature a free exhibition called Darshana – A Glimpse into Hindu Civilization. This exhibit will be held from 10 am – 1 pm at the Apex Senior Center (63 Hunter Street) on Saturday, September 10th. It showcases Hindu lifestyles, philosophies, and festivities through poster portrayals and in-person education. Posters include dharma, yoga, pursuits (artha, kama, moksha), symbols, divinity, sacred texts, and more!

All ages are welcome to attend and explore this culture and their traditions with artifacts and other experiences – providing the perfect way to expand horizons.

Traffic Pattern Changing at Intersection of Hughes & Chatham

The intersection of Chatham Street and Hughes Street will be converted from a two-way stop to a four-way stop. This change is based on 5-year crash data, and addresses a visibility issue with vehicles turning onto Chatham Street from Hughes Street. Stop signs will be installed as well as ‘stop ahead’ warning signs, and stop bars will be painted onto Chatham Street.

Be on the lookout for this change around September 9th.

Fiber Construction Underway Throughout Town

Providers including AT&T, Google, and Spectrum are currently upgrading equipment and running fiber along major roadways, as well as residential streets. The Town of Apex does not complete this work. However, we do hope to help you understand what to expect, and who to contact with concerns.

If you have questions or concerns about fiber construction in your area, look for a phone number on the vehicle of the company performing the work, or check for information provided on a door hanger at your home.
