National Preparedness Month is an observance each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. Emergency rental assistance program extended to September 30 

COVID-19-Rent-Relief-Program-Help-is-on-the-Way

San Mateo County, along with the State of California, still offers emergency rental assistance to San Mateo County residents who have experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19 and have been unable to pay their rent and/or utilities. The program is for both eligible tenants and landlords, and proof of citizenship is not required. Only one week left until Sept. 14 California Gubernatorial Recall Election

Eight vote centers are open as of September 4 and additional voter centers open this Saturday, September 11, for the September 14, 2021 California Gubernatorial Recall Election. In Menlo Park, a vote center will be open at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., between September 11–13. Peninsula cities transitioning to residential electric time-of-use rate

On Sept. 1, 2021, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) began transitioning residential electric customers in San Mateo County to the Time-of-Use (Peak Pricing 4–9 p.m. Daily) rate plan. This rate features lower prices for electricity for 19 hours a day and higher prices from 4–9 p.m., every day, seven days a week. The prices are lower when demand is lower and renewable energy is more readily available. This summer, don’t let an earthquake catch you off guard! The California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) launched the first ever statewide public earthquake warning system, Earthquake Warning California. Californians can receive earthquake warnings with the state’s free MyShake app, which can be downloaded on the Apple App Store or Google Play on smartphones or tablets.
