CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2

Monthly Update for April 2020

Project Update

  • The city has received the sixth and final streetcar vehicle from Siemens. The streetcar vehicles are currently being tested on the Blue Line during non-revenue hours.
  • The roadway realignment of Frazier Avenue is complete. The traffic signal at Frazier Avenue has not yet been installed; however, the intersection is now open to the public.
  • More than 80% of the streetcar track has been installed along the entire alignment. Areas still requiring track work include the Hawthorne Lane Bridge area and the end-of-line segments at French Street and Sunnyside Avenue.
  • The Hawthorne Lane Bridge girders are in their final location, which allows the contractor to start forming the deck and placing concrete over the next few months.

We understand the overnight concrete work will affect the community. We will provide notification 48 hours in advance of night or early-morning work whenever possible. The dates for the work may change due to inclement weather; however, an updated notice will be sent. Please be aware that 48 hours notice cannot be given for emergencies that require immediate attention. City staff will notify individuals directly if access to their driveway is affected by construction.

City inspectors will be at various locations checking quality control and adherence to project plans.

Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets as planned. When this occurs, City staff and contractors work to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.

Pedestrians should stay out of work zones. Those walking near work zones should be alert, cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian signals where available and abide by detour signage.

Motorists traveling through work zones should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distances.
