Reminder: Pick Up After Your Pets on Public Trails

There have been numerous complaints to TCJPRD this year regarding owners leaving behind their pets mess on public trails

"It's not just that it is unpleasant for others to have to walk around, but it can have serious consequences on others and the environment," said Parks Manager Andy Erskine.

Emily's Pond and Cache Creek are especially susceptible to watershed contamination from animal waste and many diseases are  transferred between dogs through fecal mater/oral transmission, such as intestinal parasites, bacterial, and viral infections.

March Is

"Preparedness if for Everyone!"

Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Fire Marshal Kathy Clay wants you to know about a powerful tool to protect you from fire.  It is a tool already in your home and can be the difference between life and death.

This tool is the doors in your home.

“Closing a door to fire can protect you for several minutes while firefighters arrive and work to rescue those inside the building," said Clay.

Clay encourages families to watch this video from the Fire Safety Research Institute, which illustrates how a fire responds to a closed door vs. a door that is open CLOSE BEFORE YOU DOSE.

Clay urges families to be sure their smoke alarms are working, both inside and outside bedrooms. This first audible warning of fire gives time to wake up and escape, or close a door, if escape is not possible. It's also important to have a family safety plan, and to identify a family meeting place. You can create your own family safety plan by clicking HERE.
