TSA Extends Mask Requirement
Last week, the Transporation Security Administration extended its mask mandate covering airports and other forms of public transportation through April 18. The current directive was set to expire this week. On Thursday, the TSA announced the one-month extension.
At the Center for Disease Control's (CDC) recommendation, the TSA said on March 10 that over the next month the CDC will work with government agencies to "help inform a revised policy framework for when, and under what circumstances, masks should be required in the public transportation corridor. This revised framework will be based on the COVID-19 community levels, risk of new variants, national data, and the latest science."
"We will communicate any updates publicly if and/or when they change," the TSA said in its statement.
The mask directive affects all transportation networks throughout the United States, including at airports, on commercial aircraft, on over-the-road buses, and on commuter bus and rail systems.
While the guidance is changing from community to community nationwide, CLT passengers and all Airport workers should continue to wear a mask. Face masks are available for passengers upon request at the Airport Visitor Info Center on the Baggage Claim level and at all TSA checkpoint podiums.
