As California reopens, vaccinations remain key to ending the pandemic

As California lifts most COVID-19 restrictions Tuesday, June 15, the all eligible individuals are encouraged to take advantage of free vaccination clinics. As of 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, California moves “Beyond the Blueprint,” which ends the color-coded reopening tier systems and lifts most restrictions on businesses. The County of San Mateo fully aligns with all state COVID-19 health and safety guidelines and has no plans to impose separate guidance. City Council passes fireworks urgency ordinance effective immediately

The Menlo Park City Council approved a fireworks urgency ordinance at the June 8, 2021, council meeting, which went into effect immediately. Historically, Menlo Park has seen increased instances of use of fireworks in the summer months and specifically on and around the Fourth of July holiday. All fireworks to include “safe and sane” are prohibited in Menlo Park. Fireworks cause thousands of injuries every year, and most significantly pose a serious risk of fire. Off the Grid food truck market returns to Menlo Park

Menlo Park’s Off the Grid weekly food truck market returns to the Caltrain parking lot, Wednesday, June 16, with six food trucks offering a variety of American, Mexican, Peruvian, Asian Fusion and ice cream delicacies! The market is open each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m., on the portion of the Caltrain station parking next to Ravenswood Avenue. Final environmental impact report released for Menlo Uptown Project

The proposed Menlo Uptown project in the Bayfront Area reached a project milestone Friday, June 11, 2021, with the release of its final environmental impact report (Final EIR). The Final EIR includes a response to all substantive comments received on the draft EIR and any edits to the text of the draft EIR. The Final EIR is available on the city’s development projects environmental documents page. A hard copy is also now available for a curbside pickup at the Menlo Park Main Library. Community meetings June 15-16 on biking/walking safety near schools

Menlo Park has collected 173 responses to its survey on walking and biking safety near schools. During April and May, the Menlo Park community was invited to participate in a survey on safety near the schools. The participants were able to provide feedback on pedestrian and bicycle infrastructures by choosing from five categories of issues: Sidewalks, Street Crossings and Intersections, Comfort, driver Behavior and Safety.
