Quote of the week

When the sun came shining, and I was strolling,
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling,
As the fog was lifting a voice was chanting:
This land was made for you and me.

As I went walking I saw a sign there,
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing.
That side was made for you and me.

In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,
By the relief office I seen my people;
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?

Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that freedom highway;
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me.

–Woody Guthrie

Renovations planned for Willow Oaks Park

Willow Oaks Park

Willow Oaks Park is located at 490 Willow Road on 2.63 acres next to Silicon Valley International School. It features a playground, tennis and basketball courts, shade trees and an enclosed off-leash dog park. Renovations are in the works for a renovated dog park and playground, new accessible pathways, and a new park restroom facility. Menlo Park is also exploring options to delineate the school-owned playing field next to the park with attractive, permanent low fencing that will have conveniently located gates. This will allow residents to access and enjoy the field. Dogs will continue to be prohibited from the playing field and will continue to use the enclosed dog park.

Various areas of the park will be closed while construction takes place. Public announcements will help keep the community informed about the work as it progresses. At the May 10, 2022, City Council meeting, staff will present the Willow Oaks Park renovation concept plans for consideration. Public comments and participation are welcome and encouraged. The Parks and Recreation Commission previously reviewed the Willow Oaks Park concept plans at its Feb. 23, 2022, meeting.
