The retaining wall located at the northbound 5 La Paz Road off-ramp has been completed. This wall is a mechanically stabilized embankment (MSE) retaining wall with a sound wall. 

MSE walls are a complex retaining wall. The main body of the wall provides most of the strength to hold the load of the retained material. The block of the wall is a critical part of the wall which prevents the sunlight’s UV rays from attacking the strength at the face of the wall. Each wall is constructed differently based on the soil characteristics.
 

South Orange County’s CHP are actively enforcing the 55 MPH speed limit throughout the construction zone. Traffic fines may be doubled for speeding within the construction zone.
