June 19-20, 2021: Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas

Event hours are 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The event site is Commonwealth Avenue from The Plaza to Pecan Street and Thomas Street from Commonwealth Avenue to the entrance to the public parking lot on Thomas Street.

Streets will close at 8:00 am June 19 and reopen y 11:59 pm June 20.

 

June 27, 2021 Racefest

Starts 7:30am on Barclay Downs

The route uses Barclay Downs Rd, Runnymeade Ln, Sharon Rd, South Wendover Rd, Providence Rd, Old Providence Rd, Sharon View Rd, Vaencia Terrace, Arbor Way, Sedley Rd, Foxcroft Rd, Ferncliff Rd, and Morrison Blvd.

July 3, 2021:  The Firecracker

The event begins Saturday July 3 at 7 p.m. at Olde Providence Elementary. Event organizers expect 800 participants. The route uses Rea Road, Windyrush Road, Lancer Drive, Bedfordshire Drive, Queensberry Drive, Providence Lane West and Brookemeade Court. Visit Charlotte Firecracker 5K for more information.

July 3, 2021: The Coulwood Annual 4th of July Parade

It begins at 12:00 PM and starts at Coulwood Middle School on Kentberry Drive and ends at Paw Creek Elementary School on Cathey Road. Belmorrow Drive and Fielding Road will also be used for the parade route.

 

July 4, 2021: The American 4 Miler

The event begins Wednesday, July 4 at 7:30 a.m. at Toast of Dilworth on Park Road. The route uses Park Road, Magnolia Avenue, McDonald Avenue, Euclid Avenue, East Boulevard, Charlotte Drive, Dilworth Road, Dilworth Road East, Worthington Avenue and Lyndhurst Avenue. July 4, 2021: The Myers Park Homeowners Association Parade

It starts at 12:30PM and begins and ends at Queens University. Selwyn, Radcliffe and Queens Road West will also be used for the parade route.

July 24, 2021: Welcome Back Fest

Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

The event is to celebrate diversity, healthcare workers, and coming out from the pandemic.

 

Mint Street from MLK Blvd. to 3rd Street will close at 8:00 a.m. and reopen at 7:00 p.m.

Uptown Sidewalk Riding Restrictions

Sidewalk riding is allowed except in the area of Uptown bound by Church St., Stonewall St., College St. and 7th St. This restriction is for bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters. When riding on sidewalks, be visible, courteous and yield to pedestrians at all times.
