CROSS CHARLOTTE TRAIL UPDATE
APRIL 2021

The Cross Charlotte Trail continues to take shape, and residents are getting excited to see all the action on the ground. Here are highlights of what's been happening the past few months.

7th Street to 10th Street (construction) - Construction continues along this segment, which fills a key gap in the XCLT and will carry users safely across the I-277/Independence Boulevard interchange. The project also ties directly into the Uptown CycleLink, a 6.5-mile network of protected bikeways that connect greenways into and across Uptown. This segment will include a parklet at the end of Jackson Street with an iconic view of the Charlotte skyline. The parklet will include a public art installation by Matthew Geller. Construction is expected to be complete  this fall.

Brandywine Road to Tyvola Road (construction) - Construction activities continue. The contractor has been working on the south end of the segment between Park Road and Tyvola Road and will soon begin work on the north end between Brandywine Road and Woodlawn Road. As the weather improves and days get longer, residents will notice more activity at both ends of the alignment.

North Davidson Street to Matheson Avenue (bid) - Real estate acquisition is complete and the project is in the bid phase. During this phase, the city uses a competitive bidding process to procure the services of a contractor to build the project. By state law, the construction contract is awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Construction is expected to start by late 2021.
