Taxi Access Program Expands Transportation Options for Older Adults and People with Disabilities
FREDERICK, Md. – Starting April 1, Frederick County’s Taxi Access Program (TAP) will offer older adults and people with disabilities more ways to travel independently. Transit Services of Frederick County is expanding TAP by adding two new transportation providers, giving riders more flexibility for trips to medical appointments, errands, and social activities.
The expanded program is offered through partnerships with MJM Transportation and KM Comfort Carriers. These additional options provide riders with the right level of support for their mobility needs.
Eligible TAP users can book rides directly with any participating provider at their convenience. Riders will continue to receive TAP subsidies toward trip costs, and same‑day service means they can schedule transportation without advance notice.
“These partnerships strengthen our commitment to accessible, reliable transportation for people in Frederick County,” said Jaime McKay, Deputy Director of Transit Services. “Adding additional providers to TAP ensures riders have the support they need to travel safely and independently.”
Rob Turner, CEO of MJM Transportation, added: “We’re proud to give TAP riders more choices and peace of mind.”
The Taxi Access Program is a supplemental transportation option for Frederick County residents registered with Transit-plus. TAP provides a monthly allotment of subsidized taxi fare funds, allowing riders to use participating providers for trips anywhere in the county. The program helps older adults and people with disabilities maintain independence and access essential destinations beyond scheduled paratransit trips.
