County Launches On-Line Community Benefit Survey
The news: Yesterday, I announced the launch of an online survey for you to share ideas about community benefits Frederick County should seek in negotiations with data center developers.
Why it matters: Your ideas are critical to this process. Along with the County Council, I held two community benefits listening sessions in February and I appreciate the input we received. The ideas shared in those sessions informed the survey. The sessions were recorded and archived on the County's website and all the ideas shared are catalogued at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/DataCenters.

County Develops Strategic Plan to Expand Affordable Housing
The news: Frederick County recently released results of the county’s most comprehensive Housing Needs Assessment and Affordable Housing Strategic Plan. The study provides a clear roadmap to address the county’s growing housing challenges and ensure a more affordable, inclusive future for all residents.
Why it matters: Housing affordability is fundamentally connected to nearly every ingredient of a healthy community— economic development, public health, caring for our seniors, and more. This study is more than a report. It is a roadmap for building a Frederick County where everyone can live, work, and thrive.

County Releases Solar Blueprint and Announces $2.1 Million in State Energy Grants
The news: Frederick County has released a comprehensive Solar Blueprint Study and announced that the County has been awarded $2,137,642 from the Maryland Energy Administration.
Why it matters: With the release of our Solar Blueprint and the support of the State’s investment, Frederick County is taking bold, responsible steps to meet clean energy goals. We are showing that it is possible to expand renewable energy while protecting prime farmland.

Work Ready Program
The news: Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Work Ready program, a paid summer employment initiative that helps Frederick County youth and young adults gain real-world work experience, build essential workplace skills, and explore future career pathways.
Why it matters: When we invest in our youth, we’re also investing in the future of Frederick County’s workforce and economy. Work Ready is about more than a summer job—it’s about giving our young people confidence, skills, and a strong start.

Agricultural Innovation Grant
The news: Frederick County’s Office of Agriculture is accepting applications for the March 2026 cycle of the Agriculture Innovation Grant Program from March 1 until March 31. This program is a competitive funding opportunity designed to help local agricultural operations innovate, diversify and expand.
Why it matters: The Agriculture Innovation Grant Program provides essential resources that empower Frederick County’s farmers to transform and thrive. By encouraging innovation and supporting growth, the program helps ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for our agricultural community.
