BUILD SA UPDATE

The City of San Antonio, Development Services has been preparing the transition of our online permitting platform, Build SA, to the Cloud.

The Build SA online portal will be unavailable Thursday March 27, 2025, at 7 p.m. through the weekend. The system is expected to be back online sometime on Monday, March 31, 2025. This transition to the cloud should be seamless for our customers. Once the transition to the cloud is completed, there will be an updated link to our portal, that we will distribute. 

Below is our plan for conducting business during the Build SA Update.

Please note, the City will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025 in observance of Cesar Chavez Day

Land Development: During this transition, we will be offering and accepting drop off and email applications, but we will not be able to process the applications or perform online plat reviews until the system is online. Applications needing staff submissions will be assessed a $10 convenience fee. It is preferred that Plat/MDP related applications wait to be submitted online through the BuildSA portal on Monday, March 31 once the system is operational, if possible. Emailed applications should be submitted to the applicable email address indicated below: ·

Plan Review/Permit Counter: During this transition, we will be accepting drop-offs for over-the-counter permit applications, but we will not be able to process the applications or issue permits until the system is back online. • Completed applications can be dropped off at our offices located at 1901 S. Alamo. Applications will be processed as soon as possible in the order they are received.
• Requested inspections for Tuesday April 1, can be scheduled by contacting the Call Center at (210) 207-1111. 
• It is preferred that applications wait to be submitted online through the BuildSA portal on Monday, March 31, if possible. Applications for new construction or commercial remodels will not be accepted while the system is down.

Inspections: All requested inspections (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Signs) for Thursday, March 27, Friday, 28, and Tuesday, April 1 must be scheduled by 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 26.

• Inspection results for any inspections completed during the outage period will be available in the BuildSA portal by the close of business on Wednesday, April 2.
• Inspections that need to be scheduled for dates later than March 31 can be scheduled on Tuesday, April 1, or an email requesting the inspection can be sent to BuildSAInspections@sanantonio.gov.
• When submitting requests, please provide the project permit number, address, inspection type, on-site point of contact name and number, and any additional instructions you would like to provide to the inspector prior to the inspection. For inspection requests, call 210-207-1111.

Code Enforcement: Residents should continue to call 311 to report possible code violations.
