The Greenway Connector project is entering its final stretch, with approximately 95% of work now complete.
Recent Key Accomplishments

Biltmore Avenue: Sidewalk improvements are complete.

Southside & McDowell Intersection: Successfully reconfigured to remove the slip lane, significantly enhancing intersection safety.

Pedestrian Infrastructure: New and upgraded crosswalks, wayfinding and curb ramps are in place.

Depot Street: Speed cushions have been installed to support traffic calming.
Next Steps
Work continues throughout the project area. NCDOT will review updated traffic signal plans to ensure proper integration with the agency's recently upgraded signal systems. Lastly, walkthroughs and inspections will confirm the work aligns with plans and meets safety and accessibility requirements. The overall project is on track for final completion before the end of 2026.
