Last week, City Council voted to approve the Fiscal Year 2024 City Budget marking a milestone achievement for a thriving community. The budget represents the voice of our community members, stakeholders, and business owners to ensure San Antonio’s future remains bright:
The FY 2024 City Budget will fund: The homelessness response system, San Antonio Animal Care Services, and will expand the San Antonio Community Outreach and Resilience Effort (SA-CORE) program to include 24-hour coverage, seven days a week beginning in the summer of 2024. The City Budget also includes:
- $7.24 million to Expand the SA Core Teams to 24 hours per day, seven days per week for FY2024 and FY2025
- $6 million for Kenwood Community Center
- $2.07 million for a storefront for no and low cost spay and neuter surgeries for two years
- $500,000 for Reproductive Justice Fund
- More than $1 million for child abuse and intervention and prevention programs which includes $113,349 for Big Brothers Big Sisters

NXT LEVEL will host its first cultural awareness event to increase diverse cultural understanding, appreciation, and youth/community engagement. This event will focus on celebrating Indian culture and will be an educational experience for NXT LEVEL’s participants, staff, partners and surrounding community members.
Event activities and presentations will take place on Saturday, September 23 from 10:00-12:00, and food will be provided from 12:00-1:00 at the Frank Garrett Multi-Service Center gym located at 1226 NW 18th Street. Your Neighbohood is invited to celebrate the official District 1 kickoff party for SANT on October 3rd with Councilwoman Dr. Sukh Kaur and team! We hope to see you at Paper Tiger, N. St. Mary’s Strip from 5pm - 10pm, and food will be provided by local, N. St. Mary’s Businesses!

Join us for some family fun on October 21st from 6pm - 9pm with some great food provided by some local food trucks, a bounce house, and "Hocus Pocus" will begin at sunset(7pm). Be sure that you bring your own lawn chair or blankets to enjoy a lovely evening with your family.
