Weigh in on the Annual Operating Budget

Building the Town of Apex’s annual operating budget and five-year Capital Improvement Plan is a collaborative process between the public, town staff, and the Town Council. The annual operating budget gives Apex the authority to collect revenue and make expenditures, depending on the priorities of the council, community, and staff.

Although we receive and evaluate feedback on budget items all year long, a public hearing dedicated to this topic is held each year prior to the final budget adoption by Town Council. Get familiar with the full budget document, and provide your feedback during the May 14th public hearing or by email at annual.budget@apexnc.org.

Ways to Get Involved in the Budget Process

Hearing from our community is critical to the creation of the Town’s budget. There are multiple ways to participate and make your voice heard.

  • Complete the Community Budget Priorities Survey (typically between December and February).
  • Attend the budget public hearing (May 14th).
  • Review a copy of the proposed budget on the Town’s website and send comments or questions to annual.budget@apexnc.org. Staff will respond to questions and report feedback to Town Council and Administration.
  • Attend or watch Town Council meetings online to stay informed.

You Be the Judge! 2024 Sculpture Walk

The 2024-25 Sculpture Walk is ready to greet visitors with 11 new sculptures installed from Hunter Street Park, through Apex Town Campus, and into downtown Apex. The entire Walk spans just over a mile on the designated map path, creating the perfect opportunity to get out and see all that downtown Apex has to offer!

The 2024-2025 Sculpture Walk works include:

  • Red Passage by Adam Walls
  • Keyhole Portal by Bob Doster
  • Blowing in the Wind by Sally Myers
  • Spirit Pod Cast by Bonnie Walker
  • Dragon Flower by Joni Younkins-Herzog
  • Sunrise, Sunset by Jordan Parah
  • Pluma Sculptura “The Feather” by Kirk Seese
  • Motherhood by Wayne Vaughn
  • Coming Together by Phil Hathcock & David Hill
  • Doves of Peace by Timothy Werrell
  • Seven Sisters Rose Window by Beau Lyday

This year, you can be the judge! Now through June 17th, the public is invited to visit each location along the walk, and score the sculptures by scanning the QR code located at each display. The sculpture with the highest average score wins the coveted People’s Choice Award!

New! Interactive Parks and Greenways Dashboard

A new interactive dashboard is now available to check out Apex parks and greenway corridors. The dashboard features a corridor list for viewers to find more information about our designated corridors as well as an overview of the types of greenways and trails offered throughout Apex. Viewers can explore all parts of the map by clicking on different areas of town, searching your own home address to find parks and greenways closest to you, and more!

The dashboard is also mobile friendly, but we do recommend viewing with your phone turned horizontally for the best experience.

Make a Splash this Summer

Splashlantis, Apex’s first water play amenity, will soon begin welcoming visitors!  This new feature of Pleasant Park is anticipated to open on Memorial Day weekend, but stay tuned to our website for exact details as we get closer to that date.

What To Expect:

  • At first, Splashlantis will have limited hours. Once the traditional school calendar is out for the summer, those hours will expand! Check the website for details.
  • Splashlantis is a gated area, with a capacity of 100 people. When capacity is reached, park attendants will active timers on the water features, and cycle through any visitors waiting to splash every 15 minutes or so. Want to splash longer? Just get back in line!
  • The splashpad is free to use and open to all ages and abilities.
  • We expect heavy crowds once Splashlantis opens, so bring your sunscreen, a towel, and bit of patience for your first visit.

Interested in a summer job at the splashpad? Apply here!

Olive Chapel Repaving and Restriping

Drivers will soon have a smoother ride on the portion of Olive Chapel Road between NC55 and Kelly Road, due to a repaving project. This work is being completed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), who owns and maintains the road.

Once repaving is complete, the new striping will create bike lanes in each direction along Olive Chapel Road between NC55 and Apex Peakway. Although the bike lanes will only be along that single block of road for now, the Town is actively planning to extend bicycle markings along Hunter Street between NC 55 and S. Salem Street in conjunction with the upcoming Hunter Street resurfacing project (tentatively scheduled for 2025).

These incremental bike lane markings are in line with the Town's Strategic Plan and commitment to creating a more bike-friendly community. Read more about the highest priority areas for bike lanes in our Bike Apex Plan.
