| Attend the City Council Meeting June 9 - free transportation available from BHCC

Attend Menlo Park's upcoming City Council meeting Tuesday, June 9. The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
City Council will see several notable items at this meeting. View the full meeting agenda.
- G2. Hold public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget and capital improvement plan; hold public hearing on vacancies, recruitment and retention; and consider and adopt a resolution to amend the fiscal year 2025-26 budget. Learn more.
- G3. Consider and adopt a resolution overruling protests, ordering the improvements, confirming the diagram/area of assessment and ordering the levy and collection of assessments for Landscaping Assessment District for fiscal year 2026-27.
- G4. Conduct a public hearing, rate protest hearing, and consider adoption of a resolution approving maximum increases in rates for the collection, processing, and disposal of waste, recycling, and compost materials for commercial, multi-family, and single-family customers.
- G5. Conduct a public hearing, rate protest hearing, and consider adoption of a resolution approving maximum rate increases for Menlo Park Municipal Water, including pass-throughs of any increases in the costs of wholesale water from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, and establishing and setting water capacity charges.
This is a hybrid meeting and members of the public can listen to the meeting and participate in person at City Council Chambers (751 Laurel St.), by telephone at 669-900-6833, via Zoom or stream live. | SB 9 ordinance updates at Planning Commission study session tonight June 8

At tonight's meeting, beginning at 7 p.m., the Planning Commission is scheduled to conduct a study session to provide feedback on potential amendments to the City’s regulations for urban lot splits and two unit housing developments, commonly referred to as “SB 9”. The Planning Commission will also consider options to streamline the development review process on substandard lots in single-family zones. Read more...

| Police reinstate alarm response program July 1: register alarms

The Menlo Park Police Department (MPPD) is reinstating its Alarm Response Program, effective July 1, to improve emergency response efficiency, reduce false alarm calls, and ensure accurate contact information during real emergencies. As part of this reinstatement, all residential and commercial alarm systems must be registered annually, beginning July 1 and renewing each fiscal year. Read more...

| Ramp and lane closures on U.S. 101 at SR-92 in San Mateo, June 9–10

Caltrans is continuing work on the U.S. 101- State Route 92 (SR-92) Short-term Improvements Project in San Mateo County. | Consumer alert on invasive pest

The City of Menlo Park would like to bring a consumer alert to our residents’ attention. The invasive glassy-winged sharpshooter has been detected on grapevine plants sold at Bay Area Costco stores as of April 21. The pest spreads Pierce's disease, a bacterial infection fatal to grapevines that can also harm almond, citrus, and ornamental plants. Early action is critical. | Help shape Menlo Park’s disaster preparedness plans by June 15

The City of Menlo Park invites community members to review and provide feedback on the City of Menlo Park Annex within the draft San Mateo County Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) before Monday, June 15. The LHMP is a regional planning document that identifies natural hazards that could impact our communities and outlines strategies to reduce risk and improve resilience before disasters occur. As part of the countywide plan, the City of Menlo Park has developed a local annex that highlights Menlo Park-specific hazards, vulnerabilities, capabilities and mitigation priorities. | Electric vehicle charging fees increasing July 1

Beginning July 1, fees at City-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will increase following City Council approval of the updated Master Fee Schedule April 28.
