FREDERICK, Md. – Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater announces the selection of Chad King Wilson Sr. of Frederick as her nominee to fill an open seat on the Board of Education. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Nancy Allen, whose term runs through December 2026.

“As an educator, parent, coach, and advocate, Mr. Wilson understands the complex issues faced by the Board of Education. He has deep roots in our community and is uniquely qualified for this role,” Executive Fitzwater said. “I am confident he can hit the ground running as the Board begins to shape its budget for the next school year.”

Wilson brings extensive classroom experience, teaching middle and high schoolers over 19 years. During his tenure at Montgomery County Public Schools, he has taught U.S. and world history, English, government, special education, and alternative education. He coaches varsity football at Watkins Mill High School and youth soccer and flag football in Frederick County. In his advocacy work, Wilson serves on the boards of directors for both the National Education Association and the Maryland State Education Association.

Under State law the County Executive is charged with nominating a person to fill any mid-term vacancies on the Board of Education, with confirmation by the County Council. Applicants for the nomination were solicited through a public process following the November 25 announcement of Allen’s resignation. A total of 52 letters of interest and résumés were submitted for consideration. The Council will consider Wilson’s nomination at an upcoming meeting.
