Huntersville's Sept. 11, 2001, annual memorial event returns this year from Sept. 2 to Sept. 16, 2024. Our annual event honors the tragic loss of life when hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and farmland in Pennsylvania 23 years ago in unspeakable acts of terror. Rows of American flags will be displayed on the Town Center lawn during the duration of the memorial event to honor the loss of life on Sept. 11, 2001. Read more about the event on our website.

Brown Mill Road Closed to Through Traffic

Brown Mill Road, between Beatties Ford Road and N.C. 73, is closed to through traffic as the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) works to complete reclamation work on this section of road. Existing pavement is being torn out, and new pavement is being installed. Barricades are in place on the road. Motorists should not, under any circumstances, get out of their vehicles and move the barricades to go around them. Only local traffic to reach business or residences is allowed. Visit our website for more information.

Mecklenburg County and Six Towns Agree on Draft Legislation for Transportation System Financing

The managers of Mecklenburg County government, the City of Charlotte government, and a majority of the six towns within Mecklenburg County have successfully concluded meetings leading to the preparation of draft legislation enabling a countywide referendum on a one-percent local sales tax to fund mobility initiatives countywide, and the ability to establish a regional transit authority.

Elected officials for each jurisdiction will now consider the draft legislation and, after review, will be asked to pass resolutions supporting its advancement to the North Carolina General Assembly. If approved, the request will be formally submitted to the N.C. General Assembly. Read more on our website.

Huntersville Town Board of Commissioners 2024

Decisions from the Dais

The Huntersville Town Board of Commissioners recently took important action to honor a retiring Town employee's service to Huntersville. When the Town Board passed the consent agenda during the August 6 meeting, they approved awarding Officer TIm Hager his service firearm upon his retirement. This is in accordance with with North Carolina General Statute §17F-20, which allows a retiring member of law enforcement to keep their badge and firearm. Officer Hager served the Town of Huntersville for 30 years. The Town Board thanks him for his service.
