Quote of the week

I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins
Like dolphins can swim
Though nothing
Nothing will keep us together
We can beat them
For ever and ever
Oh, we can be heroes
Just for one day.

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes
Just for one day
We can be us
Just for one day.

I, I can remember
Standing by the wall
And the guns
Shot above our heads
And we kissed
As though nothing could fall
And the shame
Was on the other side
Oh, we can beat them!
For ever and ever
Then we could be heroes
Just for one day.

–– Brian Eno / David Bowie

The City of Menlo Park is interested in hearing residents' needs and view about the City's aquatics programs. The City has two aquatics centers: Burgess Pool at 501 Laurel Ave., which is currently in operation; and Belle Haven Pool at 100 Terminal Ave., which has been temporarily closed for construction since 2021 and will be replaced with a new aquatics center opening by this summer.

Burgess park playground

On Jan. 22, 2023 the City of Menlo Park began improvements in Burgess Park that include renovating the existing playground with new equipment, fencing and adding an associated Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking stall with concrete walkways. Various areas of Burgess Park will be temporarily closed through April 30. However, the restrooms, tennis courts, picnic area and fields will remain open during construction. A temporary fence and barricades are set up around the site. Please observe all signage. For any questions or concerns, please contact the contractor Jia Tan, Suarez & Munoz, 510-782-6065. One-time athletic field rentals

Soccer field

City of Menlo Park athletic fields are available throughout the year for one-time reservations and community events, subject to schedule availability and rental requirements. The one-time reservations do not require a designated field user group application. Applications for one-time reservations are accepted at any time. Click here to make facility reservations online.

Field closure updates are now online

Field closed sign on field

During the colder rainier time of the year, athletic fields and dog parks close to retain the quality and safety of the field. In the past, park users would check our field phone hotline to get updates on field conditions to better schedule their visits to the park. We have now moved that system online so park users will not have to call in to determine if the fields and parks are open. They can now check our facility closure webpage to get daily updates of field conditions and closures. The webpage will also provide updates during future renovations of athletic fields and dog parks. The phone hotline will be updated to a generic message going forward that will let park users know to check the website or provide a number to call if they prefer that method. The new webpage also has the ability to email or message you directly to receive updates with our Facility Closure Update Newsletter. This only goes out when fields are opened/closed or any renovations would prevent access to the fields. Follow this link to sign up.
