CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

We hope you’re as impressed as we are with the draped wire mesh blanketing the rock face near Pineview Dam! This work reflects our strong commitment to enhancing safety for Utah motorists. A heartfelt thank you for your patience during the long-term closure, especially to those living in Eden Valley!

Our in-house UDOT maintenance team will return on Tuesday, September 2, to complete final patchwork and maintenance on the road sections affected by construction. You will need to come to a complete stop at flagger stations on either side of the construction site as one-way alternating traffic operations take place. Please plan for a short delay of approximately 5 minutes, as traffic will take turns traveling through a single lane. Once this final step hits the finish line, the project will be substantially complete!

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS

September 2:

Crews will return during the daytime hours for miscellaneous maintenance work - which will require one-way alternating traffic with flagging operations to guide motorists through the project area. Motorists can expect light delays of 5 minutes, with slightly higher hold times during peak periods.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will be implementing safety enhancements of rockfall mitigation on Pineview Dam (SR-158) near Ogden Canyon. The project objectives are aimed at enhancing safety for motorists passing through the route. This work includes using a crane and a helicopter to mount a draped wire mesh fence along the rock wall onto the barrier adjacent to the westbound lane. The results will serve as extra protection from loose falling rocks for SR-158 motorists
