The Pinole City Council recognized March as Prescription Drug Abuse Awareness Month, American Red Cross Month, Women's History Month, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and honored contributions from women all around the globe with a proclamation for International Women's Day.
During Tuesday's city council meeting, City Council adopted the following items on the consent calendar (and others not on this list):
- Adopted a resolution to approve an Affordable Housing Agreement for the Pinole Vista Apartment complex to be developed at 1500 Fitzgerald Drive
- Approved a contract for the Pinole Seals to continue operating the Pinole Swim Center for the 2024 swim season
- Approved a legal services agreement with Redwood public Law LLP for Eric S. Casher to continue serving as City Attorney for the City of Pinole

Finance Director Guillory answered questions from the public and council after she presented the Mid-year Budget Adjustments to City Council. Some of the proposed adjustments included expenditure increases in the General Fund, Recreation Fund, Building & Planning Fund, and Information Systems Fund. Director Guillory reported that the City has been seeing increase trends in Utility Users Tax, which was accounted for in projected General Fund revenue.

PG&E PLANNED OUTAGE
PG&E has informed the City that there will be a planned outage on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 8am - 4pm affecting service at 1220 Pinole Valley Road impacting meters ending in 74998. To learn more about why PG&E needs to temporarily interrupt your service, visit their website: pge.com/plannedoutages. PG&E says that unsafe weather conditions, or an unforeseen emergency may force them to cancel the work on the scheduled day. EGG HUNT & KIDS EXPO
The City of Pinole invites the community to the Egg Hunt and Kids Expo on March 16th, from 10-12pm. This event will take place at Fernandez Park and will have many activities for children ages 0-12 years old to enjoy such as arts and crafts, face painting, egg hunt, bouncy house, and pictures with bunny. This is a great time to also meet local youth vendors, get information about summer camp, and grab a bite to eat from the food trucks. The Egg Hunt will take place at the Fernandez Park Baseball Field and the hunt will take place at 11 am for children with special needs and children ages 0-3. Another Egg Hunt will follow at 11:45 am for children 4-6 and 7-12. In case of a rainout, this event will be moved to the Pinole Senior Center. All activities will be cancelled except for the arts and crafts, face painting, and photo with Bunny. In lieu of an egg hunt, to go bags filled with stuffed eggs will be given to each child as they exit the event. YOUTH ENRICHMENT & SPORTS CLASSES
The City of Pinole Youth Services offers a variety of Enrichment and Sports Classes for youth ages 5- 17 years old. These classes will inspire your child to be creative, active, and discover new interests while developing their social skills as they work with other students outside the classroom setting. Classes are offered at schools are limited to the students at that school. Classes offered at Pinole Youth Center is open for the community. We also offer Parent and Tot Sports and Enrichment classes for tot ages 3-5 years old accompanied by their parent or guardian.
Registration is available online for all Enrichment and Sports classes at https://pinolerec.recdesk.com/Community/Program, Click on the name of each class/sport to see a full description, age requirement, and fees. Each class/sports need a minimum number of participants to run so a program may be canceled if there are not enough registrants. SENIOR FOOD PROGRAM
The Pinole Senior Center is partnering with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County on the Senior Food Program. Low-income senior citizens 55+ are able to receive free groceries, including healthy pantry staples, eggs, cheese, and assorted meats twice a month. The program at the Pinole Senior Center is available for Pinole senior residents ONLY. It will be every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. The next distribution will be on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.
Individuals interested in the program must complete the Senior Food Program Application. Applications will be available at the Front Desk of the Senior Center and can also be found on the Pinole Senior Center website: https://www.ci.pinole.ca.us/city_government/senior_center
Applications can be submitted to the Pinole Senior Center Front Desk Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am - 1 pm and on the day of the food pick up. Individuals must bring proof of age such as an ID or Driver's License and proof of home address which can be a PG&E bill, water bill, or statement listing out the name and residence of the individual. FOOD DISTRIBUTION EVERY SECOND MONDAY
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County will be providing free bags of fresh produce every second Monday of the month. The next drive-thru distribution is Monday, March 11, 2024, from 9 AM to 10 AM (or as supplies last) at the Pinole Senior Center parking lot, 2500 Charles Ave. You do NOT need to be a member of the Pinole Senior Center or a senior to receive food. One bag per household. This will be a contact-less event, please follow the directions from staff and volunteers when you arrive. Parking or exiting your vehicle will not be allowed. Please open your vehicle's trunk when you enter the parking lot. Food items will be placed in the trunk only by staff/volunteers. COMMUNITY CLEAN-UPS EVERY 3RD SATURDAY
The Friends of the Pinole Creek Watershed hosts community clean-ups every 3rd Saturday of the month. Join them in keeping our vibrant creek habitat healthy and clean. The City supports community clean-ups by providing disposal methods and clean up supplies. If you would like to organize a community clean-up, visit our website for more information.

REPORT ILLEGAL DUMPING
To report active illegal dumping, call (510) 724-8950. If possible, it is most helpful to note down the license plate number of the party doing the illegal dumping, and/or capture a photo of the vehicle and license plate. To report illegal dumping that has already occurred, call (510) 724-9010 or email pwservicerequests@ci.pinole.ca.us. Please be prepared to describe the location of the dumping site.

REGISTER FOR EMERGENCY ALERTS
CWS can alert residents and businesses within Contra Costa County that are impacted by, or are in danger of being impacted by, an emergency. The CWS message will include basic information about the incident and what specific protective actions (shelter in place, lockdown, evacuate, avoid the area, etc.) are necessary to protect life and health. CWS is generally not used for traffic notifications or other non-life-threatening incidents. Register for CWS alerts.
