Construction begins on New Haw Creek Sidewalk
The City of Asheville is excited to announce the kick off of construction on the New Haw Creek Road Sidewalk Project, implementing approximately 1 mile of new six-foot-wide sidewalk along New Haw Creek Road from Beverly Road to Bell Road. The City's contractor is Site Development Corporation, and it is estimated to take 18 months to complete.
One of the first steps will be removal of trees in the project area, which will begin as soon as this week (week of Feb. 24).
What to expect during construction:
-
Temporary lane closures will be necessary throughout construction. The contractor plans to avoid traffic disruptions during peak hours, including school drop off and pick up. The contractor will provide clear signage and detours to direct traffic safely around the construction zone.
-
There will be construction noise during working hours. The contractor will do their best to minimize disruptions and keep noise levels as low as possible.
-
Residents will see construction equipment such as excavators, pavers, and trucks in the area. Please exercise caution and keep a safe distance from these vehicles.
Project updates will be provided regularly via email to subscribers on the project page.
We appreciate your patience as we work to improve pedestrian safety in your neighborhood.
