Roy G. Guerrero Park Stabilization
NOTICE:
For your safety and the safety of our workers, stay outside the safety fencing and do not enter into the construction area even when no workers are present. There is no access to cross the creek at this time.
Project Status
Construction crews are building three concrete drop structures. These act like giant steps to guide the creek down to the Colorado River without causing massive erosion. The river is about 20 feet lower than Country Club Creek West, and the drop structures help the creek flow safely downhill.
Crews are working on the east side of the creek for the next few months. Because the construction area needs to remain dry, the creek has been directed to the west side. Once work on the east side has been completed, the construction activity will switch to the opposite bank.

Work Hours and Timeline
City of Austin permitted construction hours are:
- Monday through Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., although people and trucks may begin arriving at 6:30 a.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Construction started in August 2022 and is expected to wrap up by the end of this year, weather permitting.
Project Purpose
At more than $25 million, this project is the Watershed Protection Department’s largest erosion project ever. It will protect the ball fields at Krieg Fields, park roads, and nearby homes from ever-worsening erosion. In addition, it includes replacement of a pedestrian bridge that was washed away by floodwaters.
Your patience and cooperation is appreciated!
