| Candidate filing for the November Election opens July 15

Election season is approaching, Menlo Park! Candidate filing for the Nov. 5 election will be open from Monday, July 15 until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. The Nov. 5 election will have the opportunity to fill a City Council seat in District Three (full term – four years) and District Five (full term – four years). Registered voters will vote only for the City Council seat in their district. Individuals who wish to run for one of the two seats on the November ballot must be registered to vote in and live in the district in which they are running, set up an appointment with the City Clerk and complete all necessary paperwork with the City Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Aug. 9... | Calling all residents interested in local leadership

The City is actively seeking applicants for vacant seats on three advisory bodies. Advisory bodies examine issues of community interest and make recommendations to the City Council on policy matters. Current vacancies include: one vacancy on the Housing Commission, one vacancy on the Library Commission and two vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Commission. | City Council summer recess until Aug. 13

The Menlo Park City Council will have a summer recess through the rest of July and the beginning of August. There will be no City Council meeting July 23. | California Competes Tax Credit application period opens July 22

The first California Competes Tax Credit application period will start on July 22 with $215 million in tax credits available. The California Competes Tax Credit is an income tax credit available to businesses of all industries that want to locate in California or stay and grow in California and create quality, full-time jobs in California. Any business can apply for the California Competes Tax Credit. The credit is available statewide to all industries. Seminary Oaks Park and playground will be temporarily closed for upcoming repairs through the end of July.
