City Council to discuss swim centers Sept. 9

Belle Haven Pool and Burgess Pool will be the topic of the City Council study session tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 9. The City Council will receive end-of-summer attendance, financial reports and related background information about the aquatics program. The City Council will also review possibilities for sustaining and potentially expanding open hours at the City's swim centers. Read more...

Electronic waste collection event returns Sept. 6

RethinkWaste and Recology San Mateo County are teaming up with the City of Menlo Park to encourage residents to properly recycle old electronics at the Electronic Waste Collection Event Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the City Corporation Yard (333 Burgess Drive). Residents should place their electronic waste in their trunks and remove other personal items to avoid any accidents. This drive-through event allows residents to remain in their vehicles as the vendor picks up the electronic waste from the trunks. Read more...

Learn about the Menlo Park SAFER Bay Project at the Farmer’s Market Sept. 7

Join us at the Menlo Park Farmer’s Market (parking lot on Chestnut Street, between Santa Cruz and Menlo Avenues) on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. for a pop-up to learn about the SAFER Bay Project! This regional effort is focused on protecting local neighborhoods, businesses and infrastructure from the impacts of sea level rise and tidal flooding. The City’s portion of the project, led by the Public Works Department, will build a system of levees, floodwalls and trails along the Menlo Park area of the shoreline, designed to reduce flood risk while also creating community amenities. Read more...

Apply for the Community Emergency Response Team Academy starting Sept. 11

The Menlo Park Fire District has opened registrations for its September 2025 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy. This free program provides community members hands-on training in basic disaster preparedness, fire extinguisher usage, disaster medical care, first aid training, search and rescue techniques as well as neighborhood team building. The next Academy will take place over six sessions from Sept. 11 through Oct. 11. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Submit artwork for a library card art exhibition by Oct. 31

Bring us along on your library adventure! The City of Menlo Park is refreshing our library cards and inviting community members of all ages to submit original artwork inspired by the theme “My Library Adventure in Menlo Park.” Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of staff and stakeholders, and select designs will be printed on new library cards and made available to the public. Any artist whose work is selected for printing will be notified prior to printing. Submit your design by Oct. 31 for the opportunity to be displayed in the gallery Nov. 18–Jan. 15, 2026. Read more...
