Terminal Lobby Changes Coming Friday
Plan Ahead, Book Parking, Arrive Early
On Friday, the west ticketing lobby will undergo several changes that mark the next stage of Destination CLT construction.
Checkpoint B is being decommissioned. It has been closed on and off for several weeks as preparations are made to build a new, larger security checkpoint in its place. Passengers flying out should use the other security checkpoints when arriving to catch flights:
- Checkpoints A and E - standard lanes
- Checkpoint C - TSA PreCheck®
- Checkpoint D (employees, oversize baggage, wheelchair, standard lanes)
Spring break travel is in high gear, and summer travel is not far behind. Customers are strongly encouraged to book parking online to guarantee a space and to be inside the terminal at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight so there is plenty of time to check in and go through screening. Security wait times could be longer during busy travel periods.
Also happening later this month, Delta, Air Canada, JetBlue, Contour, Frontier, Southwest and United airlines will move into new check-in counter space. Passengers will easily see the new counters when entering the ticketing lobby. American Airlines, CLT's largest air carrier, in not affected by this move.
Destination CLT is the Airport's $3.1 billion capital investment program in capacity enhancements. Over the last 20 years, the presence and growth of Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and its airline hub have resulted in CLT becoming one of the busiest airports in the U.S. and world.
