The City of Austin is continuing work to improve safety and mobility along Ross Road and Pearce Lane. Because of the scope of construction, the intersection of Ross Road and Pearce Lane was fully closed to allow crews to work safely and efficiently.
The work was originally expected to take up to three months. However, unforeseen site conditions and the need to coordinate activities across multiple utilities now require the City to extend the intersection closure into June 2026.
Detour Information
Ross Road Detour: To access Ross Road north of Pearce Lane, vehicles will detour through the Meadows at Berdoll neighborhood using Alomar Cove and Spiers Way. Business access for the gas station and shops will remain available via Ross Road south of Spiers Way.
Pearce Lane Detour: To access Pearce Lane west and east of Ross Road, vehicles will detour the Los Cielos neighborhood using Las Alas Trail, Campana Drive, Los Cielos Boulevard, Buenos Aires Parkway, Night Sky Way, Noche Clara Drive and Alomar Cove.
No parking will be allowed on streets included in the detour route.
Truck traffic must use Circuit of the Americas Boulevard from SH-71 or Pearce Lane from SH-130.
Business access is available via both Ross Road south of Spiers Way and Pearce Lane west of Alomar Cove.
Planned Improvements
- Two travel lanes in each direction, plus a center turn lane or median
- Sidewalks, shared-use paths, and buffered bike lanes along both sides of Ross Road
- New traffic signals at intersections for improved safety
- Enhanced roadway lighting and additional crosswalks
- Drainage improvements along Pearce Lane
- Water line upgrades along Ross Road

This project is funded through the 2020 Austin Mobility Bond – Substandard Streets Program.
