Safety and mobility improvements proposed for Huntland Drive and Highland Mall Boulevard

The City of Austin is proposing safety and mobility improvements for Huntland Drive and Highland Mall Boulevard. These streets help connect the community to nearby parks, schools, churches, restaurants and retail along the Airport Boulevard corridor.

The project aims to improve safety, connectivity and comfort for everyone traveling in the area — whether walking, biking, taking transit or driving.

Between Airport Boulevard and Middle Fiskville Road, the proposed design would reconfigure Huntland Drive from two travel lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction. This change would create space for safer walking and biking facilities while maintaining similar vehicle travel times.

Huntland Drive is scheduled for resurfacing later this year, which provides an opportunity to install these improvements at the same time. Highland Mall Boulevard is not currently scheduled for resurfacing, but potential improvements are being considered as funding becomes available.

We invite you to review the project webpage to learn more and share your feedback.
