County Executive Fitzwater Highlights Progress, Partnerships, and Priorities in State of the County Address
BRUNSWICK, Md. – County Executive Jessica Fitzwater today delivered her fourth State of the County address, highlighting progress achieved during her first four years in office and outlining the opportunities for Frederick County.
“At its best, government is not something that happens to people. It is something we build together. It is government of the people, by the people, and for the people. There is no better place to do that work than local government,” Fitzwater said. “While the work is never finished, I am proud of the progress we have made together and optimistic about the future we are creating together."
Fitzwater emphasized the importance of accountability, inclusion, and sustainability in Frederick County Government. She also recognized the contributions of municipal, state, and federal officials, the County Council, nonprofit organizations, business leaders, educators, first responders, and residents.
During her address, she highlighted:
-
Investing in Frederick County Public Schools
-
Expanding childcare access and affordability
-

-

-

Fitzwater also acknowledged continued uncertainty at the federal and state levels, including potential impacts on local budgets, school construction, public services, and working families. She pledged to continue building partnerships and focusing on practical solutions that strengthen Frederick County.
“I believe we are all called to do the best we can, with what we have, where we are – and that’s exactly what I’ve done over the past four years. As a result, we’ve moved Frederick County forward and we’ve set the stage for even more progress in the years to come,” she concluded.
