Make a Splash: Asheville’s New Pool

Highly-anticipated improvements to Malvern Hills Park continue to swim forward – and we want to hear from you! The project team has set an aggressive timeline to bring a new pool to Asheville as quickly as possible and your feedback is a critical next step.

View the design for the new pool and bathhouse created using data from last spring’s community preference survey and provide input directly to the project team at upcoming opportunities. This is your chance to tell us what you love about the design and what you think is missing. Professional aquatic designers will translate input from this phase and feedback from the community preference survey to refine the final design while also considering important safety requirements like building codes, environmental regulations, and project budget.

This may be a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring a new pool to West Asheville, so seize that power and think about the features and activities you (and future community members) want to enjoy!

Don’t miss opportunities to be involved:

  • Drop-in Open House: Stop by the picnic shelter at West Asheville Park (198 Vermont Avenue) on September 23 from 5–7pm. The design team will be there, as well as Spanish language interpreters. Bring the entire family for fun activities hosted by APR’s Rec ‘n’ Roll team, refreshments, and free beach balls and pool totes while supplies last.
  • Online Survey: Can’t make it in person? A survey will be available on the official project page.
  • Chat at the Tailgate Market: Find project team members at West Asheville Tailgate Market (718 Haywood Road) on September 30 from 3:30–6:30pm.
  • Community Gathering Spots: Find project team members at community events in September and October that are posted to the official project page.

Stay Connected: Our Transparent Approach to Progress

We are committed to keeping you informed about Malvern Hills Park improvements every step of the way. Open communication is key to a successful project, and we want to celebrate our progress on this new pool together as neighbors.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, the City of Asheville’s official project page is your best resource. We encourage you to visit it directly rather than relying on online forums, social media, or other unofficial sources. You can also sign up for milestone updates and get answers to frequently asked questions on the project page.

Our project team is also available to answer your questions, listen to your ideas, and address your concerns. We’re working hard to bring a new pool to West Asheville as quickly as possible – and when misinformation takes over community discussions, it only slows the process. Let’s work together to make this project a reality for everyone.
